This unofficial thread contains mainly features what have been in game earlier, but have been removed for some reason and not reintroduced on later date. This list may also contain high priority items which have been promised (but not delivered) earlier. Other random entries are possible if enough reasoning exists.
This list is maintained by author and he may use very selfish and biased selection procedure to pick up more items to the list from the replies in this thread. The goal is to keep the list very clear on item specific level and gather them all to one place. Global entries such as "add WIS as promised" will not make the cut. Reasoning why each item is in list will not be provided - it should be clear enough without the explanation.
Feel free to contribute and/or comment. Hate mail is as welcome as the positive one.
Current unofficial task list:
Neocom - Add narrow task bar to bottom of the screen where you can minimize windows so that their labels remain visible. -> It is also extremely important that minimized chat labels have user count visible and that minimized labels blink when there is activity. - Make "chat"-button optional. - Modify blink so that it activates on event, blinks couple times and leaves icon highlighted. Make it re-blink after each new event. - Add notification blink to "contract"-button. - Add notification blink to "journal"-button. - Move "items" and "ships"-icons away from undock button and left people to customize their order/location. - Remove random useless junk which is appearing to neocom bar when doing invention, opening cargo containers and so on. - Add character name to neocom to make it easier to multi-box and quickly tell which client you're using. - Add date to the clock. - Add shortcut icon for compare tool.
Keyboard shortcuts and overview locking - Add option to enable/disable shortcut key applying to "preselected overview item". -> when enabled lock the overview when mouse is over the overview window. - Add option to enable/disable activated shortcut key applying to "clicked overview item". -> when enabled lock the overview when any shortcut key is held down. - Add shortcut option for compare tool.
In space controls - Add option to enable/disable automatically approach object on open cargo feature.
Misc UI - Fix copy pasting ISK amounts to ISK input box. It stopped working during "," "." decimal divider update. - Stop to random setting resets after patches. Usually related to window positions / tab widths.
Forums - Fix forum BBcode parse error which percent signs may cause. - Allow us to post images and use signature images. - Fix signature editing tool. - Add support function to assembly hall. - Fix session time out which frequently eats (usually time consuming and well written) posts. - Add more customization options to forum layout. Option to disable side borders and background image is minimum demand to increase usability.

Valei Khurelem wrote:...lets list everything the players want!... Lets not... there is ideas and suggestions forums for those + the little things thread. Try to stick in features which are either broken, need to be updated because of some magic reason or have vanished from the game. If some totally new "item" makes it way to the list, it has to be really neutral thing what would benefit most players on their daily tasks somehow.
Players want plenty of stuff, but they rarely agree about the things they want. This is why I try to keep my "own" wishes away from the list also and focus on the obvious flaws and issues. The fixes and changes have to be clear and if something divides people to 2 opposite camps, it probably doesn't belong here.
Getting old functionality back is the priority. If there is something what can be done to make it even better - that is extra.

Could you enlighten me about the "widescreen" mode. Tried to find information but didn't quite get to bottom of it. Screenshot and/or extra info about what has been changed when it was "removed" would be nice.
Nebula blindness I understand as item without drop shadow not being very visible against bright background. Can't really combine that to wide screen issues in my mind? How are these related?

Ok thx... after reading this thread I get a feeling that this is more or less issue with some bright nebulas than issue with missing black bars. Reintroducing black bars would certainly fix the problem from areas where the bars are, but leave the other areas as they are. This would clearly be solution for some, but is it the optimal one?
Before adding the item to list I would like to hear some additional suggestions and comments about the issue and nebula blindness. Are those nebulas which are too bright limited to certain few and/or what would be the best methods to fix or get around the issues? Are the black bars necessary if such method can be found? Should some UI items be less transparent or have some static backdrop? Is this problem appearing only with certain colours? If black bars would be reintroduced, what additional measures should be taken to fix other areas of the issue?
Personally I think that simple solution lays in adding some drop shadow or similar to white fonts, which seem to vanish to some nebulas rather well. My opinion however relies pretty heavily to these 2 screen shots you people had posted to that thread. Specially the text under target labels on 2nd example becomes rather unreadable as it is. Example 1 - Example 2.

There has been some recent changes to overview locking system but I see those fixes inadequate as final solution.
Only known true and proper solution is as explained in todo list. It does require coordination between keyboard shortcut team and overview UI team, but it shouldn't be reason not to fix it properly.
Besides plenty of people have been complaining about shortcut key behaviour long before overview locking problem even existed. If it was fixed way back then already, most likely we didn't have the issues we have at the moment.
Will leave the items there up to the point they are fixed or other as good truly working solution has been found.

Hobgoblin II (5) [Drone Group 2]
Hammerhead II (3) [Drone Group 3]
LOL Acolyte (1) [Drone Group 4]
etc. Yay... added little simplified version to common good improvements list. Should do the trick.
Thanks.

Good list, but I think this feature already exists, and is implemented better than a bar region. - snap chat windows to the bottom (or to any other window) - doubleclick the header bar Member count is visible, and it blinks on new activity. Or is there something I'm missing? Yea... it requires moving the bars to bottom manually unless they were "snapped" to the edge.
However if they changed it so, that double clicking the header bar would work like the old minimize function did (also move the bar to bottom), perhaps people would find that as workaround they could live with. Hard to tell really - there is always a change that someone actually likes the current double click feature and would be sad seeing it go away.
Personally I can say that I liked all windows minimizing to bottom bar, as I always had "work in progress"-windows open there and those also reminded me about unfinished tasks. Now days I don't even want to try guess from neocom icons which one is in "minimized" and which "closed" state.
Also if there was narrow horizontal bar, they could fit the date and character name back without any problem.
CCP should take time to think over the neocom project, write devblog about the changes they propose and see how it will be received. It is not totally junk - it is just unfinished and some features are poorly designed with eye candy on top usability on bottom.
My list is more or less guide line of the lost features and about stuff people have been talking about in forums. There may be additional ways to provide the same benefits and functionality. With some communication and effort the end product would be really much better.

Roime wrote:But you only need to move it to the bottom once? When you doubleclick to expand it, it still sticks to the bottom.
I disliked the old functionality, because the minimized windows overlapped the stuff I already had on the bottom. I usually closed windows because the bottom part became cluttered. A bar area down there would reserve screen estate, unless they implemented it so that the region only appears once you minimize something. It would still look funny, unless you minimize a lot of windows there.
Yes, I'd be sad if they removed this, but it co-existed with old minimize functionality so there probably is no reason to remove it.
Window buttons/features don't need to be limited, having all three would make most sense:
- doubleclick to flatten it to it's header ba - minimize from min button to NeoCo - minimize to bottom region with shift-something (or vice versa, you get the point
The Neocom icons and their visual clues do need a lot of work. I still have hard time distinguishing them from each other, and the minimized state is not visible at all.
Yep... you just described one way to improve things and also one way to use the windowing system. People are used to something and would rather stick with the behaviour if it has felt fine to them. If there are improvements, they should be done in such way, that at usability remains at least on same level
Quite a few people have way too many windows open to keep them on bottom. The "double clicking header bar and moving window to bottom"-solution has been brought up before and the feedback has been mostly negative as it being real solution to lost usability there. It is one workaround for some though
The reason why I've suggested having narrow maybe 12-13 pixels high bar on bottom was because quite a few, just like you, have been saying that "I disliked the old feature (mainly) because minimized windows overlapped the stuff I already had on the bottom". Having the actual bar there for windows would be improvement for that. It would also be small downgrade for screen estate, but in the end the benefits are greater than the losses for players as whole. Specially some additional information is added to the bar. Obviously the optimal solution would be to have option to either have the bar and minimize to bottom or not have the bar and minimize to neocom. That might be over complex to issue like this though
Any way... because of stuff like this it would nice to have this project reopened and discussed to the point everyone (99%) can agree to.

"copy pasting numbers with period or comma"-issue got fixed, compare tool can now be assigned to some keyboard short cut and it seems that partial stack transfers between hangars do no longer cause funny error messages and overloaded ships. At least I wasn't able to reproduce them any more when I tried briefly.
3 good steps taken, no new ones added.

Slightly unrelated to this topic, wrote more detailed description and reasoning behind many of items being on this list to other thread about unified inventory or winferno as I prefer to call it. Other posts in there are also well worth getting familiar with.
